Judy and I hung out all thru high school on drill team and chasing boys! I used to go skiing with her family and would get in on their ski pass as her older sister! Really Judy would ski down and then lay down and sun tan while she waited for me to get down. We did a ski class together our first year at BYU and wanted to be in the same class so I had to sign up for the advanced class with her. We were the only girls in the class with a group of hot dog boys! I was lucky to live through that one! Then we lived together sharing a bedroom in college for 2 years! We did a lot of cleaning the dorm building our first year because we were always after curfew coming home from work late and we had one righteous roommate who would never let us sneak in the back door! We worked for 2 yrs at the same jobs so we could carpool since Judy had a car. We didn’t sleep much those 2 years! We used to drive to the A & W at 9 or 10pm and buy cartons of coke to help us cram homework! One night after a very late white glove cleaning in our dorm we somehow got pulled over by the police since Judy was driving backwards on the wrong side of the road on University Ave in Provo! She didn’t even get a ticket! One night we were up sliding down the staircases on cardboard boxes to the basement of our dorm and we found smoke and discovered a small fire in the furnace room so we saved our Young Hall dorm from burning down! Then we got busy having kids and didn’t see a lot of each other except reunions.
When Keo died I went and stayed with Judy and started taking her to Zion with my brother Rick hiking and rappelling in the beautiful canyons. We had some great memories in Zion and it seemed to bring Judy back to life again after losing Keo. Eventually she met Dave and then the two of them went on many canyoneering adventures with me and Rick. Our last trek was down the narrows to take Ricks ashes back to the canyons he loved and Judy and Dave were there of course! I’m sure they are in heaven talking canyoneering stories!
